Was one of our life goals to become involved in SC politics?
Hmmm… I don’t think so.
Would we rather be completely focused on our own businesses and careers?
100%. But are the S-C-V-C, you see? So, here we go.
There’s a LIQUOR LIABILITY INSURANCE AD HOC meeting on
SCStateHouse.gov
Wednesday, January 17 at 12:30 pm in
Room 516 – Blatt Building at 1105 Pendleton St, Columbia, SC 29201.
The meeting will stream online and be archived.
Individuals may submit written testimony to HJudComm@schouse.gov,
and a public input meeting will be held at a later date.
We will be there to listen in and, if allowed, say a few words about why we believe change is needed. You can watch or listen to the meeting via the buttons below. Please share the agenda, links, and the reason we’re doing this… to help save our small businesses. We need your help to do that.
When we set out on this campaign, we aimed to raise awareness of the rising liability insurance cost for SC music venues and bars. We’ve done that and wish we could go back to our everyday lives. But we can’t. We won’t, even though we’ve been told we’re doing everything wrong by PR firms, we’ve been targeted by cyberbullies with law degrees, and the editorial staff of the Post & Courier alluded to us having wealthy backer steering our actions.
Ha! If we had a big bucks backer, do you think we would dress the way we do? Probably. But in reality, our little operation is run on a shoestring budget thanks to a few benefit concerts and our GoFundMe account.
We are not professional lobbyists.
We don’t get paid to do this.
We need your help.
Most of us don’t have have a big bucks backer. If part of your household income is from SC bars or music venues, PLEASE ask those BUSINESS OWNERS to share their liability insurance rate increases with the SC Venue Crisis team as soon as possible.
We need to provide EXAMPLES to the legislative committees and we need that info NOW! Ask them to email the info below to at scvenuecrisis@gmail.com.
- Business name
- Location
- Liability insurance rate increase amounts in the last few years
- Any additional information that may be helpful, including the insurance agency/carrier providing their coverage
This is a critical time for many of SC’s small businesses and we are trying to help. But we can’t do that if YOU don’t HELP US HELP YOU.
We have full-time jobs, families, and other things that require our time and energy. So, please… ask the bar, restaurant, and music venue owners that you know to contact us with the info we need to help convince our legislators to create more balanced laws and support SC’s small businesses.
SHARE AND WATCH THE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY.
SIGN AND SHARE OUR PETITION.
ASK BUSINESS OWNERS TO CONTACT US WITH THEIR RATES.
KEEP CONTACTING YOUR LEGISLATORS.
KEEP MAKING NOISE!

Thank you for your continued support.
Don’t drink and drive. Support local music.
